Wichita businessman Les Eck bought the Riverside Airport this afternoon at auction, bidding $1.65 million for the 200-acre airport run by the Sanders family since it began operations in 1953.
Eck, a pilot who lives near the airport, said he wasn't sure what he would do with the facility and said he was surprised that he even bid.
The property at 3520 N. Hoover Road includes four hangars with 52 stalls for aircraft, an office, a private hangar, a maintenance hangar and a mobile home rented to a tenant.
McCurdy Auction of Wichita handled the sale.
