Several local colleges have said they will accept the credits of former ITT Tech students, who were left without a school after ITT closed down on Tuesday.
Wichita Area Technical College and Southwestern College, among others, have said they will take ITT students. Both are non-profit, accredited colleges offering a range of degree and certificate programs.
WATC will hold two information sessions for ITT Tech students from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sept. 13 and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sept. 15 at its main campus, 4004 N Webb Road.
The U.S. Department of Education said ITT students are free to transfer their credits to other colleges, but they will continue to have any federal student debt they incurred from attending ITT. The government will discharge ITT students’ debt, but students won’t be able to transfer any credits.
