Southwest Kansas cattle ranch sells for $8.3 million at auction

A southwest Kansas cattle ranch sold for $8.3 million this week, according to an Indiana auction company.

TLW Land & Cattle was a 9,480-acre cattle operation southwest of Garden City, spanning Finney and Haskell counties. The more than 14-square-miles ranch has a 950-head yard and a carrying capacity of up to 20,000 head.

Schrader Real Estate and Auction Co. said the Tuesday auction began with offering the ranch in five tracts.

But “it was clear that most of the interest was in the operation as a whole, reflecting the fully integrated nature of the operation,” R.D. Schrader, president of the auction company, said in a news release Thursday.

Schrader did not identify the name of the successful bidder.
