Ethanol executive leads effort against gasoline
David VanderGriend, president of ICM, a Colwich-based builder and operator of ethanol plants, is leading a new effort to highlight what he said are the toxic compounds contained in gasoline.
The new group also calls on people to press the federal government to further regulate fuel.
The Urban Air Initiative has a new website www.fixourfuel.com.
The ethanol industry produces corn-based alcohol, which makes up about 10 percent of most automobile fuel by federal mandate. The ethanol industry wants to expand that percentage, but the petroleum industry has fought back.
