An adult, who was unresponsive before CPR, was taken from the Newton YMCA pool area to the hospital Sunday night in serious condition, according to a Harvey County Emergency Communications supervisor.

The medical emergency was reported at 6:11 p.m. as a possible drowning, the supervisor said around 7:30 p.m..

CPR was being done by lifeguards when 911 was called at 6:11 p.m. and first responders continued CPR when they arrived, the supervisor said, adding that officials were able to get the person breathing.
