A two-car accident in west Wichita early Sunday morning has left three people dead, according to police.

The accident occurred at about 2 a.m. at Maple and Tracy, near Towne West Square, an emergency dispatcher said.

Wichita police told media at the scene that three people were thrown from one vehicle and were killed.

Maple was closed to through traffic at Tracy, which is four blocks west of West Street, for most of Sunday morning as police investigators processed the accident scene.

Police would not release any details about the accident at a noon briefing Sunday. More information may be provided at Monday’s 10 a.m. police briefing with media.
