Banned door-to-door meat salesman spotted in Kansas, AG’s office says

If a man comes knocking on your door to sell you some meat, be careful.

A pair of door-to-door meat salesmen who have been banned from doing business in Kansas because of consumer protection violations have been spotted back in the state, Attorney General Derek Schmidt’s office announced Thursday.

Rodney Y. Creighton and Christopher L. Maselka were banned from selling meat in Kansas after a 1998 court order. At that time they were operating under the name America’s Choice Steak Inc. The attorney general’s office said it had received reports that the pair have been operating in Kansas under a variety of names: Iowa Steak, Direct Foods and Ur Local Butcher.

Anyone selling meat door to door is required to inform consumers of a three-day right to cancel and must also have a retail meat license from the Kansas Department of Agriculture, Schmidt said.
