Miss Greater Wichita becomes Miss Kansas
The reigning Miss Greater Wichita has received this year’s Miss Kansas crown.
Amanda Sasek, 23, was crowned Saturday night during the pageant’s final night of competition, held at Pratt Community College in Pratt, said Lauren Werhan, communications manager for the pageant. Last year’s titleholder, Theresa Vail, an Army National Guard sergeant who was voted the “People’s Choice” in the 2014 Miss America pageant, bestowed the honor.
Sasek is originally from Moberly, Mo., and is a graduate student at the University of Kansas, Werhan said.
She will advance to the 2015 Miss America Pageant, scheduled for Sept. 13 in Atlantic City.
“The energy in the entire building was phenomenal,” Werhan said of Saturday’s competition. Thirty-one women competed.
“Great show, great productions numbers. And we were able to crown a wonderful girl who will hopefully have a wonderful year,” she said.
