Wichita State men, women plan basketball celebrations

Wichita State will celebrate its men’s basketball season on April 24 at Koch Arena.

The event is free and open to the public. Team awards will be presented and coaches and players will speak.

WSU went 35-1, winning the Missouri Valley Conference regular-season and tournament titles, and played in the NCAA Tournament. Coach Gregg Marshall earned several national Coach of the Year awards and players Cleanthony Early and Fred VanVleet recieved spots on All-America teams.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the ceremony begins at 7:30 p.m.

Players and coaches will not be available for autographs.

Wichita State’s women’s team will hold its celebration on Thursday at 5 p.m. at the Champions Club in Koch Arena. Tickets are $15 and include dinner. Monday is the final day to RSVP by calling 316-978-3267.

The Shocker women, with a 26-7 record, also won MVC regular-season and tournament titles to return to the NCAA Tournament.
