Sangeeta Khicha believes volunteering brings out the best in people.

“When you volunteer, you do something positive,” she said.

In February, Khicha chaired the Wichita Art Museum Contemporaries Color Party. The annual event raises money for art programs in Wichita public schools.

“She’s energetic, dynamic and the best volunteer because she believes in (the) museum’s mission and understands the important role the arts play in the lives of Wichitans,” said Teresa Veazey, public relations manager at the Wichita Art Museum.

Khicha said she organizes the event because it inspires.

“Myself and my children do it because my parents frequently took us to museums when we traveled,” Khicha said. “I reaped enormous benefits through the exposure you get in ideas, different perspectives and creativity.

“I wanted to get involved with the Wichita Art Museum because it is a great asset for the city. It shows the many ways you can express yourself through the arts.”
