Wichita man charged with second-degree murder in shooting death

County prosecutors this week charged a Wichita man with second-degree murder in the Nov. 6 shooting of a 23-year-old at a northside apartment.

Jeremy Anspach, 37, faces the charge in the death of Eric G. Salazar, who was shot in the head during an argument at a fourplex at 1835 N. Broadway. In a complaint filed Wednesday in Sedgwick County District Court, Anspach is accused of unlawfully and intentionally killing Salazar by “inflicting injuries” that ultimately led to his death just hours after the shooting.

Anspach, who police records show was arrested Dec. 1, is being held in Sedgwick County Jail on $500,000 bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for Dec. 18.

Manuel Rivas, 24, of Wichita is also charged with second-degree murder in Salazar’s shooting. His preliminary hearing, which has been delayed twice, is set for Jan. 16, court records show.
