Railroad depot to be moved to Belle Plaine Arboretum

A Santa Fe Railway Depot is scheduled to be moved six miles Monday to the Belle Plaine Arboretum.

The depot, built in 1879 for the town of Oxford, will be moved from the Bill and Sammye VanderWall's farm to its new location.

The VanderWalls moved the depot to their farm in 1996 and remodeled it for use as a ceramic studio.

A formal dedication of the depot is planned at the Arboretum in the fall of 2013 featuring Grammy Award-winning pianist Phil Aaberg.
