Police identify man found dead in South Erie house
Wichita police have no suspects in the city’s most recent homicide.
Pheng Xiong, 35, was found dead in his bed by his roommate at about 10:50 a.m. Saturday at 830 S. Erie, Lt. Randy Reynolds said Monday.
A police report states Xiong suffered a “very large laceration” to his neck. A screen was damaged at the house northwest of Lincoln and Hillside, the report states. Investigators aren’t sure whether that was a point of entry for the perpetrator.
Observers saw the 17-year-old roommate come outside the house and start screaming. Reynolds said she was later picked up by a woman at the Dollar General near Lincoln and George Washington Boulevard and dropped off on South Seneca.
The woman who picked up the roommate is not considered a suspect, Reynolds said. They just want to talk to her as they piece together information in the case.
Xiong is the 15th homicide victim of the year in Wichita.
