Coleman buys air mattress maker

The Coleman Co. today announced that it has agreed to buy Aero Products International, a provider of air-filled mattresses and chairs under the name Aerobed and Aero Sport.

"It is a natural fit for Coleman," said Sam Solomon, president and CEO of Coleman. "We currently offer more than 30 models of indoor and outdoor air beds and accessories, so we understand this market and the wants and needs of the air bed consumer. Through this acquisition, we will enter new distribution channels and expand our offering in the indoor and premium product segments."

Details of the transaction were not released.
