Kansas Sports Hall of Fame moves into Wichita Boathouse

WICHITA — The Kansas Sports Hall of Fame will celebrate its move to the Wichita Boathouse with a ribbon cutting and open house today.

The ribbon cutting is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. with the open house running until 3 p.m. at the boathouse, 515 S. Wichita. Admission is free.

The Hall of Fame is making the move from Old Town. The boathouse, thanks to billionaire Bill Koch, underwent $650,000 in renovations to prepare it to host the museum.

The museum will be a mix of permanent items along with rotating exhibits from the Hall of Fame's larger location at the Chisholm Trail Center in Newton. Permanent exhibits will include portraits of the hall's 190 inductees and the America's Cup, which Koch won in 1992.
