The Andover Public Library has been selected to receive free hardcover editions of 17 books on the theme of "A More Perfect Union."
The books are part of a national grant project from the National Endowment for the Humanities in cooperation with the American Library Association. The library also received a DVD edition of "The Civil War," the Ken Burns documentary, along with posters and bookmarks.
Book titles include "A More Perfect Union: The Story of Our Constitution," by Betsy and Giulio Maestro; "Lincoln Shot: A President's Life Remembered," by Barry Denenberg; and "Twelve Angry Men" by Reginald Rose.
This is the third NEH grant awarded to the Andover Library, which is one of 4,000 libraries across the nation to receive the grant.
Carol Wohlford, Andover library director, said the books will be showcased during the library's annual Summer Reading Program, which runs from June 7 through July 16.
