Surviving passenger in K-96 crash in good condition

WICHITA — A 22-year-old Maize man injured in a crash on K-96 that killed two Wichita teenagers Saturday night is in good condition today at a local hospital.

Jared Kannady is being treated at Via Christi Regional Medical Center-St. Francis Campus.

He was a passenger in a 1997 GMC minivan that was heading east on K-96 when the driver overcorrected after drifting out of her lane, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol. The vehicle rolled several times in the median.

The driver, 17-year-old Whitney Young of Wichita, and a second passenger, 18-year-old Holly Marler of Maize, were killed in the crash. All three people were wearing seat belts, the highway patrol reported.
