Wichita man convicted in shooting

HUTCHINSON, Kan. | A Wichita man has been convicted in the shooting death of a Hutchinson man.

Reno County jurors deliberated about three hours Friday before finding Felton Williams Jr. guilty of second-degree murder in the killing of Kenneth “Landy” White, 21.

Ronald L. Beard, 21, also is charged with murder in the case.

Another defendant, Aubrey Oliver, 19, of Wichita, pleaded guilty in January to a lesser charge of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder in exchange for his testimony against Williams and Beard.

Oliver has testified that the trio broke into White's home to scare him for a threat White made against Williams' cousin.

Oliver also has said Williams shot White once in the leg and then in the head.

Sentencing is set for July 10.
