UMKC sophomore guard Reggie Hamilton has left the Kangaroos' basketball program. He asked for and was granted a release from his scholarship.
Hamilton was second on the team in scoring with a 12.6 average. The Kangaroos have nine regular-season games remaining.Hamilton was part of coach Matt Brown’s first-recruiting class. As a freshman, Hamilton played in 31 games and averaged 11.7 points.
UMKC, which is 6-16 overall and 2-7 and in last place in the Summit League, will need other players to step up into Hamilton’s scoring role. Hamilton scored in double figures in 15 of the 21 games he played and had five games in which he scored over 20 points.
