Carnival Cruise Line adds non-smoking casino to Florida-based ship
As smoking rates continue to decline in the U.S., whether a cruise ship has a non-smoking casino is becoming increasingly important to cruise vacationers - a group no longer made up mainly of retirees. Today, about 36 percent of cruise travelers are under 40, according to the Cruise Lines International Association, up from 25 percent in 2015.
For many younger cruisers, the casino is a place to avoid on a cruise ship due to the smoking-friendly environment of most cruise ship gaming spaces, which clashes with the health-conscious vacation vibe Millennial and Gen Z travelers tend to seek. About 53% of Millennial and Gen Z travelers maintain a wellness routine while on vacation, according to Contiki's 2025 Voice of a Generation survey.
As younger travelers become the driving force behind the cruise industry's growth, more cruise lines are adapting their ships and onboard offerings based on Millennial and Gen Z preferences. Although most major cruise lines remain hesitant to shift to 100% smoke-free casinos due to concerns that non-smoking casinos would generate less revenue among smokers, Carnival and Royal Caribbean are both gradually expanding their offerings for passengers looking for smoke-free gaming spaces.

Carnival Glory, a 2,980-passenger Conquest-class cruise ship that offers short Bahamas getaways from Port Canaveral, Fla., is the latest cruise ship to be updated to add a non-smoking casino space. The ship joins a growing number of Carnival ships that now offer both traditional smoking and non-smoking casino areas on board.
Located on the Promenade Deck (Deck 5) close to but fully separated from the main Camel Club Casino, Carnival Glory's non-smoking casino includes both slot machines and table games.

The ship offers a variety of spaces and experiences for families and multigenerational travelers, like Carnival's WaterWorks aqua park, an arcade, and an outdoor movie theater on the pool deck.
