Adopt a pet (Aug. 13, 2016)
Heather, a 2-year-old female Labrador retriever mix, is available for adoption from Kansas Humane Society.
Hey there, I’m Heather. I’m as sweet and goofy as they come. I guess that’s why everyone here calls me a “goofball.” But I just like to have a good time. As you can probably tell from my picture, I’ve always got a smile on my face, and I like to make sure other people are smiling too. I show ’em all my very best tricks. I’m hoping someone will see soon what a good dog I am. I’m in the Lonely Hearts Club here at KHS, which means I’ve been waiting for my furr-ever home for a while now. But I’m not letting that get me down. I just know my new best friend will find me soon. Maybe you could be my best friend? I promise I’ll bring lots of love and laughter to your home.
Also available from KHS:
▪ Piper, 3-year-old female pit bull terrier mix
Wanna play? I just love to play and have fun. The staff here calls me the “Life of the Party.” But what can I say? I just like to have a good time. One of my favorite activities is fetch. I love to show people my skills with a tennis ball. I can jump right up in the air and catch it. Aside from being super quick on my feet, I’m also super sweet. I guess you could say I’m the whole package: lots of love and fun topped off with that signature pittie smile. What could be better than that?
▪ Alpha, 5-year-old female Labrador retriever mix
Hi, I’m Alpha and I’m your prototypical Lab. I’m a little goofy, very smart and eternally loyal. That’s why they call us man’s best friend, right? Right now I’m searching for my own best friend. I’d love to find someone as fun-loving as me. But they’ll also need to be patient while I heal. I’m being treated for heartworms, a disease we get when those icky mosquitoes bite us. Don’t worry: It’s totally treatable. A few weeks of tender-loving care and I’ll be running laps around all these other dogs.
▪ Georgie, 6-month-old male cat, domestic shorthair mix
Hi there. The name is Georgie. I’m a handsome little guy that runs my new foster mom’s home. I was a little overwhelmed at the shelter, so she took me in and now I’m feeling more comfortable. Since I moved in I’ve made friends with two other cats and two big ol’ dogs. Being that I’m still little, I was a little nervous at first, but soon I realized how nice they could be. It’s great to have friends. Now I’m searching for a new best friend who can give me a home of my very own. Maybe I could move in with you? I promise to be the purr-fect kitten.
▪ Flap Jack, 4-year-old male cat, domestic shorthair mix
Meow. Will you play with me? All I need is a string, and I’m good to go. Well — and someone to hold the string. I would love it if someone sweet would take the time to play with me. I promise to be the best kitty that I can be. After we’re done playing we can curl up and take a nap together. There’s nothing I like more than lounging in front of a big window and taking in a few rays. I can’t wait for all the fun we’re going to have together. So don’t wait; come to the Kansas Humane Society today.
