Psst. Hey, over here. I’m Harry. I’d love to get to know you, but I can be a little shy at first. I’m nervous being back here at the shelter. I was adopted by a nice family when I was a kitten, but sadly they had to give me up because they couldn’t afford to take care of me. So now I’m looking for a new best friend. Don’t be put off if I take a second to warm up to you. Give me one good scratch behind the ears and I’ll be your best friend forever.

Hey there, wanna play? I just love to play and have fun. The staff here tell me I’m 100 percent sweet. I greet everyone I meet with a tail wag so big it wiggles my whole body. Unfortunately, people keep overlooking me here. I’m part of the “Lonely Hearts Club.” That means I’ve been here for a while, hoping someone will give me a chance. But I’m not letting that get me down. I’m on the hunt for a new best friend to romp and play with. Maybe it could be you?

Mattie, a female yorkie mix about 3 years old, is available for adoption from Pals Animal Rescue. She is a sweet, cuddly little dog who is a bit of a diva and would probably do best as the only dog in the home. She uses a doggie door and is house-trained with supervision. Cashew, a delightful, inquisitive kitten about 4 months old, is also available from Pals. He loves to play and thinks he can conquer the world. Cashew and his brother Caramel, along with other Pals cats and kittens, will be shown from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7, at PetSmart, 533 S. Tracy.
