The Retain summer dog wash is in full swing, with volunteers cleaning canines for $5 and proceeds going to a worthy cause.

From 1 to 4 p.m. every Saturday through Sept. 3, weather permitting, dogs of any size can get a shampoo, rinse and towel-dry for $5. The dog wash is set up outside Heartland Animal Hospital, 4100 N. Woodlawn in Bel Aire.

Proceeds go to Responsible and Ethical Treatment of Animals in Neighborhoods, a local group that helps pay for spay and neuter surgeries for pets whose owners can’t afford them.
