Adopt a pet (July 16, 2016)
Jax, a 1- to 2-year-old male Labradoodle, is available for adoption from Pals Animal Rescue. After his owner died, he was given to a family that found they could not care for him anymore. He is about 60 pounds, and aside from being a bit nervous and needy (like many doodles are), he is great with other dogs and with cats. He doesn’t mind the birds in his foster home either. He is an active dog who really likes to be with the people in his home.
See Jax and other Pals dogs from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, July 16, at PetSmart, 3615 N. Rock Road.
Coco, a 1-year old female domestic shorthair mix, is available from Kansas Humane Society.
My name is Coco and I’m a sophisticated cat who knows what she wants. What I really want is a home of my own and someone special to love me. When I first came to the shelter I was pretty scared but then I made friends with another cat named Bert. Now we’re the best of friends. Most of the time you can find the two of us cuddled up on our cat tree together. Maybe you have room for both of us in your heart? You can adopt us both for FREE, ya know. Plus I’d hate to leave my friend behind. I’m extremely loyal. Once we become friends, I’ll stick by your side forever.
Also available from KHS:
▪ Kingman, 3-year-old male domestic shorthair mix
Hey, toots. Are you looking for the perfect man? Well, look no further because I am one cool cat. I like to spend most of my days sprawled out, soaking up the sunshine in front of a window. But when you get home, it’s all about cuddle time. I’m not too active. I’m more than happy to curl up on the couch with you and watch a movie — your choice of course. I’ll purr away while you pet my ears and I’ll quietly “knead” your legs with my little paws. Doesn’t that sound nice? Our perfect night in starts with a trip to the humane society.
▪ Harry, 6-year-old male domestic shorthair mix
Psst. Hey, over here. I’m Harry. I’d love to get to know you, but I can be a little shy at first. I’m nervous being back here at the shelter. I was adopted by a nice family when I was a kitten, but sadly they had to give me up because they couldn’t afford to take care of me anymore. So now I’m looking for a new best friend. Don’t be put off if I take a second to warm up to you. Give me one good scratch behind the ears and I’ll be your best friend forever.
▪ Harley, 6-year-old female German shepherd/pit bull mix
I’ve been so lonely since my family moved away without me. I love having someone to curl up with. So now I’m searching for a new pack. I need someone as sweet as I am because I’ve got a lot of love to give. In my old home, I loved to play with the kids and give them lots of kisses. I even had some furry friends to play with, both dogs and cats. Come meet me today at the Kansas Humane Society. One look into my soulful eyes has most people falling in love. If that doesn’t do it, my sweet demeanor is sure to win you over.
▪ Clarabelle, 3-year-old female Labrador retriever mix
Hey there I’m Clarabelle. I may be a mixed breed, but the staff here at the shelter tell me I’m the prototypical Lab; loyal, loving, and just plain goofy. I think life is better with a smile on your face so I greet everyone I meet with an enthusiastic tail wag and a smile. I make it my goal to make them smile too. I’m hoping to find someone just as happy-go-lucky to give me a home. Give this goofy girl a chance to make you smile and come visit me today at the Kansas Humane Society.
