Dog washes raise money for animal-related causes
Dog washes raise money for animal-related causes
The Dog Days of Summer are here, and local groups are offering dog washes to cool off your canine and raise money for animal-related causes.
The Retain summer dog wash is from 1 to 4 p.m. every Saturday through Sept. 3, weather permitting, outside Heartland Animal Hospital, 4100 N. Woodlawn in Bel Aire. Volunteers will bathe, rinse and towel-dry dogs of any size for $5.
Proceeds go to Responsible and Ethical Treatment of Animals in Neighborhoods, a local group that helps pay for spay and neuter surgeries for pets whose owners can’t afford them.
On July 16, the Butler County Animal Response Team will hold a dog wash from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the parking lot of First Southern Baptist Church, 2206 Ohio St. in Augusta. The cost is $10 per dog.
The fundraiser is being held in conjunction with the Augusta Department of Public Safety. Money raised will be used to buy supplies for the team’s disaster-response trailer. Alex’s House Dog Rescue also will offer microchipping for $20 per dog.
