Goober, a 2-year-old male St. Bernard/shepherd mix, is available for adoption from Kansas Humane Society.
I’m a goofy guy just looking for a best friend. I already know all the tricks to make a great sidekick. I walk great on a leash and know how to sit and shake on command. Plus, I get along with everybody. I just need someone sweet to shower me in attention. I can get a bit lonely when I’m left on my own. I am such a sweetheart of a dog, so I do hope you give me a chance. The folks here like me so much they waived my adoption fee. So just leave a donation and take me home today.
Also available from KHS:
▪ Dutchess, 6-year-old female shepherd mix
I’m a little shy but once I get to know you I’ll show you what a sweet dog I can be. It was a big change for me when I came to the Kansas Humane Society. My family developed allergies and had to give me up so I found myself in a big, scary shelter, but everyone here has been really nice. They even found a foster home for me so I’d be more comfortable while I’m waiting for someone to adopt me. Maybe I could join your family? I promise to be a very good girl. I’m house-trained, plus I get along great with other dogs. Call 316-524-9196 to set up a meeting with my foster family.
▪ Bud, 12-year-old male pointer mix
The name is Bud, and that’s what I’m lookin’ for here at the shelter — a best bud, to be more specific. You know, someone to stay by your side forever. I’d love to cuddle up on the couch with you, but I’ll do whatever you want to do. That’s just the kind of guy I am. I’m so excited to meet my forever family and I hope you’re on your way here soon.
▪ Naomi, 2-year-old female cat, domestic shorthair mix
I like to keep busy, busy, busy. I’ll explore every nook and cranny in your home and even check out the windows. Next, I’ll see of any closets or cupboards need looking into. And then there are my naps — can’t be late on those. And of course I will be there for some hugs and cuddles with you and, oh yeah, mealtime. I hope we can meet soon.

Ryder, a sweet, loving male Sheltie mix about 2 years old, is available from Pals Animal Rescue. He was a stray picked up at large. He is an active little guy at about 20 pounds who needs to go to a home with another dog. He is a “stranger danger” sort of guy and will let you know if anyone comes around the house. He is house- and crate-trained and loves to follow his foster parents wherever they go.
Also available from Pals:
▪ Daisy is a 6-year-old shih-tzu whose owner could not keep her any longer. She is a sweet, loving little girl who is always ready to be cuddled and loves a good belly rub. She is house-trained and OK with other dogs, but would do best as an only dog child.
Meet Ryder, Daisy and other Pals dogs from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 21, at PetSmart, 3615 N. Rock Road. To see all available dogs and cats or for more information, go to the website www.palsrescue.org or call 316-990-3647.
