Adopt a pet (April 2, 2016)

Apollo, an 8-year-old male Belgian Malinois mix, is available for adoption from Kansas Humane Society.

Need someone to cuddle up with on the couch? I just might be your perfect match. I’m an older gentleman who’s learned to appreciate the finer things in life. Now all I need is someone to share those things with. I’m looking for a family who has as much love to give as I do. I’m a member of the Lonely Hearts Club here at the shelter, which means I’ve been waiting for a home for quite some time. But I’m a patient boy, and I’m not giving up hope. I just know someone will come by and see what a good boy I am. Could it be you? Come meet me today at the Kansas Humane Society.

Also available from KHS:

▪ Omarion, 1-year-old male Labrador retriever mix

Wanna go on an adventure with me? There’s just so much to sniff and explore in this world, and I can’t wait to do it all. I’m what the staff here at the shelter call a “Busy Bee.” I like to stay active and occupied. There is no time for idle paws in my life. So let’s play with toys together. We can take long walks and play fetch outside. Hurry — you grab your keys and I’ll grab the leash. See you soon.

▪ Molly, 8-year-old female boxer

I live to please my people. They call me a “Teacher’s Pet” because you can always find me waiting patiently at the staff’s feet. I love people so much, I get a little anxious when they leave me alone. That’s why I’d love to find someone who can spend a lot of time with me and make me feel secure in my new home. In return I’ll show you all my tricks, like “sit” and “shake.” I’m the perfect package, you see. So don’t wait. Come adopt me today.

▪ Patsy, 10-year-old female cat, domestic medium-hair mix

Everyone needs a helping hand sometimes. Why not let me lend you a paw? I’m the perfect personal assistant. I’m qualified to do such helpful things as push the keys while you are on the computer, sit in the basket while you fold the laundry, and hold the pages down while you read a book. Once we’ve tackled all those chores, we can relax together. Come hear my purr at KHS.

▪ Schmidt, 3-year-old male cat, domestic shorthair mix

I’m a really cool cat. I’m also quite independent. I will be affectionate, but most of the time I’m perfectly happy just being in the same room with you doing my own cat thing. I do like to explore. Once I get my forever home, I’m going to explore all over and discover every nook and cranny. I can’t wait. Come visit me soon and start our adventure today.

Chloe, a 7-year-old female schnauzer mix, is available for adoption from Pals Animal Rescue. She’s a great little girl who would love to be an only dog child. She is very smart, loves attention and is perfectly house-trained. After going through a weight loss program, she is now ready to strut her stuff. She is looking for a home that will keep her on her diet, even though she will beg for food or treats. She will be showing off her new waistline from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at PetSmart, 3615 N. Rock Road.

Also available from Pals:

▪ Jet is a male Tibetan spaniel mix, about 6 years old. He is an easygoing kind of guy who gets along well with dogs his size and loves people. Such a gentleman, he is house- and crate-trained. He is looking for a home that has another dog his size to play with. Visit him and other Pals dogs from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at PetSmart, 3615 N. Rock Road.

▪ Winter is one of three kittens brought to Pals when they were less than a week old. They are now about 5 months old and ready to go to their forever homes. They are full of kitten energy and love playing with anything that moves. If you have nothing to do, Winter will keep you entertained. She and other Pals cats will be shown from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday at PetSmart, 533 S. Tracy.
