Solo, a 1-year-old male cat, domestic shorthair mix, is available for adoption from Kansas Humane Society.

Just in time for the new “Star Wars” flick, we’ve got Han Solo, or “Solo” for short. When you find yourself facing a force like the Galactic Empire, you need a fearless friend like me to stick by your side. My foster family says I like to swat at the laser pointer and pounce on shoe strings. After playtime I like to curl up at the foot of the bed. I’m a good boy who always uses my litter box. I also like to greet you at the door with a little meow and a vocal trill. My front claws have been removed, so I’m an inside cat only. I’m a smiley, glass-half-full kind of guy looking to ease my way into retirement. But don’t let my age fool you; I have a lot of spunk in this big body. Take me for walks, toss a tennis ball for me to fetch, and then afterward we can cuddle on the couch and catch up on episodes of your favorite shows. This sounds like a fantastic day to me. Do you need someone to put a smile on your face? I could be just the guy to do it. I’m something of a class clown here at the shelter, and the staff call me a “goofball.” But what can I say? I just like to have fun. I quickly make friends with everyone I meet. I lived with kids and other dogs in my former home. We used to run and play all the time. Now I’m looking for a new best friend to play with. I wonder if that could be you. It could be if you get in your car and visit me. Will I see you soon? I hope so.
