Pet briefs: Arc’s Lights to include pet photo night
The Arc’s Lights, the annual lights display that raises money for the Arc of Sedgwick County, will hold a special pet photo night with Santa next week.
Visitors to the display, at Douglas and St. Paul, are encouraged to bring their pets from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Dec. 17 to pose with Santa. Printed photos will be available for $5. The display will continue until 9 p.m.
Money raised at the display, the Arc’s largest fundraiser, will support programs for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. For more information, call 316-943-1191.
Pet photos at Derby All Paws, Spay-Neuter clinic
Santa Paws will be in Derby and Wichita on Dec. 12, posing for photos with pets and raising money for animal-related causes.
All Paws Pet Center will hold a photo session from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. at its Derby store at 1821 E. Madison Ave. Photos cost $10, with all money raised going to Wichita’s LAPP animal rescue. For more information, call 316-773-7297.
Also on Saturday, Santa will be at the Spay-Neuter Kansas clinic, 319 S. Hydraulic, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Money raised will benefit Spay-Neuter Kansas and Pals Animal Rescue.
Ten dollars will buy a photo in a card frame plus an e-mailed electronic copy. Pets can pick out a toy from the toy chest, and spiced apple cider and cookies will be available.
The clinic will also be accepting donations of paper towels, liquid laundry detergent, hydrogen peroxide, distilled water, pens, pencils and copy paper. For more information, call 316-263-4200.
Pet food, litter sought for pet food pantry
The Retain Foundation, a local nonprofit that battles the problem of animal overpopulation, is collecting dog and cat food for the pet food pantry operated by First Metropolitan Community Church in Wichita.
The church at 156 S. Kansas, which also distributes food for people in need, distributes a week’s worth of pet food the third Friday of every month to pet owners whose funds for the month may have run out.
The groups are seeking donations of unopened cat or dog food, dry or canned, and cat litter.
