Adopt a pet (Nov. 21)

Jacob
Jacob Courtesy of Pals Animal Rescue

Jacob, a 1-year-old terrier mix who is a great companion dog, is available for adoption from Pals Animal Rescue. He loves to play with other dogs and is house- and crate-trained. If you are looking for a running buddy or just someone to take a walk with, he is your guy. He is a terrier, so he also thinks he should keep watch over your home. Jacob will be shown Saturday at Petco West, 2441 N. Maize Road, from 1 to 2:30 p.m., along with five other Pals dogs.

Also available from Pals:

▪ Reba, a 1-year-old golden retriever mix, will also be at Petco West. She is Miss Personality Plus, as she loves to get attention from her foster family, loves playing with other dogs and does well with cats. When she is happy, her tail wags her whole body. She comes house- and crate-trained and ready for her new family

▪ Kandee Leigh is a delightful little girl at only 4 pounds. She will be shown along with nine other Pals dogs from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at PetSmart, 3615 N. Rock Road. She has had a difficult life as she came to Pals with a badly broken leg and was terrified of everyone. Both her leg and her spirit have healed, and though she is still shy with strangers, once she gets to know someone she is a cuddle bug. She is about 2 years old and ready for her new home.

▪ Zoey has never met a stranger and feels that she was put on this earth to please her people. She loves belly rubs and cuddling on the couch with her foster parents. She is always in a good mood and never seems to get upset over anything. House-trained to use a doggie door and great with other dogs, she is a wonderful companion dog. She also will be shown Saturday at PetSmart on North Rock Road.

Angel, a 3-year-old female Australian shepherd/harrier mix, is available for adoption from Kansas Humane Society.

My name is Angel and I’m looking for someone as sweet and gentle as I am to call my best friend. When I first came to the shelter I was scared of all the new sights and smells, but the folks here at KHS helped me come out of my shell. I can be a little nervous at first, but just be patient with me and soon you’ll see my great personality blossom. I love to cuddle and give kisses to my favorite humans, but I also like to run and play outside. Stop by the Kansas Humane Society today and pay me a visit.

Also available from KHS:

▪ Daryl, 8-year-old male pit bull/hound mix

I may be a bit long in the tooth but I’m still just as spunky as any of these young pups, plus I love to play and have fun. I’m what the shelter staff here at KHS calls a “goofball.” My goal is to keep you smiling at all times. Our lifelong friendship could start as soon as you come to the Kansas Humane Society, so don’t hesitate.

▪ Mabel, 12-year-old female miniature poodle mix

Do you need a little cutie to brighten up your days? Then come see me at the Kansas Humane Society. I’m a member of the Lonely Hearts Club here at the shelter, which means I’ve been waiting for someone to give me a second chance at my happy-ever-after for a while now, but I’m not giving up hope. I know I’m no spring chicken anymore but I’ve still got lots of love to give. I would love a warm and caring home where I can rest my head at night. I promise to bring smiles and companionship to you and your family.

▪ C.C., 1-year-old female cat, domestic shorthair mix

It’s getting colder, and everyone needs someone to cuddle up with, including me. My foster family says snuggling up close with my people is what I do best. I’m a playful girl who is sure to steal your attention, and once I’ve got it, I take full advantage of cuddle time. I love to be with people and I quickly make friends with everyone I meet, including young kids. I’d love to meet your family too. Just call KHS to set up a visit with my foster family today.

▪ Bianca, 2-year-old female cat, domestic shorthair mix

We all know how busy the holidays can get. That’s why you need a “personal assistant” like me. Whatever you need, I’m there to lend a helping paw; all I ask in return is a little scratch behind the ears. I taught my kitten to be a little helper, too, but now that my little one is all grown-up, it’s time for me to find a home of my very own. Do you have room in your heart for me this holiday?
