Seminar to discuss emergency preparation and pets

Is your whole family – including your pet – prepared for an emergency?

A free seminar at 1:15 p.m. Saturday at Skaer Veterinary Clinic, 404 S. Edgemoor, Building 100, will offer tips on steps you can take now that could save lives in the event of a disaster or emergency.

The seminar will include information on how to prepare an emergency kit for your family and pet, pet safety in an emergency situation and what to do if your pets are displaced by a disaster.

Veterinarian Christen Skaer, president of the Sedgwick County Animal Response Team, will present the seminar.

Seating is limited. RSVP by calling 316-683-4641, e-mailing questions@skaervet.com or signing up at the front desk.

Household pets wanted for regional cat show

Cats need not be purebreds to compete in a Cat Fanciers Association cat show set for Dec. 6 and 7 at the Cotillion.

Entries of household pets are being sought for the CFA Gulf Shore Region Fundraiser Show, sponsored by Wichita Cat Fancy.

People are urged to enter their nonregistered cats in the show’s household pet division, a category that celebrates the beauty of the everyday cat. Cats must be at least 4 months old, spayed or neutered if older than 8 months, current on all vaccinations, of good temperament and not declawed.

The deadline for entries is Nov. 29.

For more information and to register, call 316-516-9428.
