Dog wash collecting pet food, garage sale items
Saturday is the last day of the season for the RETAIN summer dog wash in Bel Aire.
The service, which offers baths for $5 for any size dog outside Heartland Animal Hospital at 4100 N. Woodlawn, will be in operation from 1 to 4 p.m.
Responsible and Ethical Treatment of Animals in Neighborhoods, which runs the dog wash, is also collecting donations for the pet food pantry run by First Metropolitan Community Church. Dog and cat food, plus supplies like litter, collars, leashes and toys, brought to the dog wash will go to pet owners in need. Food must be in unopened packages with intact labels.
The group is also collecting furniture and other items for its annual garage sale, planned for Sept. 24-26. Items should be in good, clean, usable condition – no clothing, please. Proceeds will help RETAIN in its mission to provide spay or neuter surgery for the pets of people who cannot afford the surgery.
