Adopt a pet (Aug. 29)
Homer, an 8-year-old male cat, domestic medium-hair mix, is available from Kansas Humane Society.
My name is Homer, and much like the characters in my poems, I’m on an epic quest. I’ve been searching far and wide for someone who can give me a home to call my own. I’ve been patiently waiting for nearly four months now but I’m staying optimistic. I just know someone great will come along soon and we’ll live happily ever after. Could it be you? Call the Kansas Humane Society at 316-524-9196 to set up a visit with my foster family.
Also available:
▪ Maddie, 1-year-old female cat, domestic shorthair mix
I’m a shy girl looking for a patient soul to spend some time with me. Once we get to know each other, I can really let my sweet personality shine through. And that’s where the fun begins, you see, because I’ve got so much love to give. I came to the shelter as a stray so my history is a bit of a mystery to the staff here at KHS, but I can tell you all about it if only you’ll take the time to come visit me today.
▪ Hershey, 8-year-old male Labrador Retriever
Whoever said you can’t teach an old dog new tricks has never met me; I love to learn new things. I already know some of the basics like “sit,” and the staff here at the shelter say I’m a quick learner. They’re always telling me what a good boy I am. They even took me on a field trip to a nursing home. I had so much fun meeting everyone there but now I’m really looking forward to meeting a new best friend who can give me a home of my own. Come by the shelter today and see me.
▪ Boston, 6-year-old male Labrador Retriever
I’m a true gentleman that gets along with just about everyone. I was first adopted from the Kansas Humane Society when I was just a young pup and now I’m back again but I’m not sure why. I’m already house-trained. I know how to sit and stay and I get along great with young children and with other dogs. I just know I could fit perfectly into your family. I’ll gladly greet you at the door when you come home from a long day at work and then we can go on a long walk together. Won’t you come meet me?
▪ Helena, 8-year-old female shepherd mix
I’m a member of the Lonely Hearts Club here at the shelter, which means I’ve been patiently waiting for my shot at a new home for a while now. But the shelter staff hasn’t let that get my spirits down; they told me they want me to find a home so bad that they’ve waived my adoption fee. That means you can take me home for free. I just know someone nice will come along and give me a second chance at a great life. Maybe it could be you? I know I could be a great companion. We could play and sniff out the world together if only you’d come by the Kansas Humane Society today.
