The Kansas Humane Society in Wichita is in need of foster homes after more than 90 cats were discovered in a “hoarding case.”

KHS spokesperson Ericka Goering said it was an active investigation and she couldn’t provide more details about the circumstances of the cats being removed. She said the Humane Society is working with Wichita and Sedgwick County animal control officials to gather all of the felines.

The KHS posted photos of some of the cats on Facebook, saying that the KHS urgently needed foster homes to help with the “large cat hoarding case.” The Humane Society said its cat kennels are already full. Goering said there are kittens and cats with varying levels of health needs and socialization. Fostering can last up to several weeks, but the KHS provides food and any medical care needed during that time.

Cats with more needs and socialization won’t just be sprung on anyone, Goering said, adding they will ask what people are comfortable with.

The foster application can be found online at kshumane.org/how-to-help/foster.html. Anyone who wants to help financially can donate at kshumane.org.
