Pet Independence Day, $17.76 adoptions July 4 at Kansas Humane Society
The Kansas Humane Society is holding a Pet Independence Day celebration on July 4 that includes special adoption prices.
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, adoption fees will be $17.76 for all dogs 6 months and older and kittens 9 months and younger. Adult cats are free.
The special price includes the pet’s spay or neuter surgery, vaccinations, a microchip, flea and tick treatment and a bag of food.
Here are some of the animals available:
▪ Cinnamon the Constant Companion, 9-year-old female German shorthaired pointer mix
Hi, I have a little story to tell you. My previous owner went to the bridge before me. I know what I need to do to heal and that is find a new family to fill the gap in my heart. I am smart and have a lot of abilities to make your home complete. Come sit with me for a while and you will see the kindness of my soul. Let’s connect soon, yes?
▪ Lena, 1-year-old female German shepherd-Labrador retriever mix
Aloha, fantastic people! My name is Lena, and I’m an energetic girl. I’m a little shy in the beginning, and it may take some time to completely warm up to you, but my love and loyalty will be worth the patience. I’d love to be your dog, so let’s make it happen. I’m currently in foster care, so call the shelter at 316-524-9196 to learn how to visit me.
▪ Maharet the Personal Assistant, 9-year-old female cat, domestic shorthair mix
Maharet here, a very loving and sweet kitty looking for a quiet home to cozy up in. I love attention and being petted, but I’d prefer not to be held or picked up. Oh, and if I could be the only adult cat in the home, I’d like that a lot. I promise to give you plenty of purrs and meows to show my appreciation. Come see me at KHS today, please?
▪ Missy the Personal Assistant, 4-year-old female cat, domestic shorthair mix
I have lived with dogs and other cats and I’m also house-trained. Pretty cool, huh? You could say that I’ve got skills, and I would totally agree with you there. Come visit me and you will realize what a great cat I’ll be for you. Shall I be expecting you soon?
▪ Homer the Sidekick, 8-year-old male cat, domestic medium-hair mix
Well, hello! You must be pretty smart, adopting a mature, well-mannered adult cat. I enjoy my humans and like to spend time with them when they get home from being out and about. I can be your snuggle buddy and lap kitty, or we can play around. I want to be your little helper. I hope you make a visit to see me soon.
