Humane society to offer free adoption for one day

Anyone wanting to adopt an animal from the Kansas Humane Society can do so for free this weekend.

From 11 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, the Humane Society, located at 3313 N. Hillside, will offer adoptions at no cost, according to a news release.

The offer is part of a national pet adoption drive called “Clear the Shelters,” which will be recognized for the first time in Wichita.

“Clear the Shelters has been a hugely successful event at other animal shelters across the country,” said Mark Eby, president/CEO of the Humane Society. We are so excited to be a part of this year and hopefully clear out our shelter and get dozens of animals adopted into new, loving homes.”

Holds will not be allowed on animals Friday or Saturday, the release said. For more information, visit the Kansas Humane Society website or call 316-524-9196.
