Dog wash to raise money for spays, neuters

The Retain dog wash is back for the summer, with volunteers cleaning canines for $5.

The service will be available from 2 to 5 p.m. every Saturday through Sept. 2, weather permitting, outside Heartland Animal Hospital, 4100 N. Woodlawn in Bel Aire. For $5, volunteers will shampoo, rinse and towel-dry dogs of any size.

Proceeds go to Responsible and Ethical Treatment of Animals in Neighborhoods, a local nonprofit group that helps pay for spay and neuter surgeries for pets whose owners can’t afford them.

Retain is also collecting donations for the local pet food bank.
