What is a ButterBurger? Fast-food chain to bring these signature menu items to Wichita
A popular, Wisconsin-founded fast-food chain is coming to Wichita soon and bringing its popular “ButterBurgers” and other menu items with it.
Culver’s is expected to open in the area later this year or early in 2024. Founded in 1984, the restaurant first began in Sauk City, Wis., serving its signature ButterBurgers and frozen custard.
While the Wichita location is the first in the city, there are eight locations in Kansas and more than 900 nationwide, according to the company’s location finder. The new Wichita location will be located at 3210 N. Maize Road.
Restaurant Business, an industry research company, ranked Culver’s 30th in its top 250 restaurant chains based on 2019 data. The popularity of Culver’s is growing as the company continues franchising in other locations, including recent locations in Oregon and Illinois.
Here’s a look at the fast food chain’s menu and what you can expect if you pay the new location a visit.
Culver’s signature menu items
If you visit Culver’s, you may want to give the signature ButterBurger a try.
The patties are fresh beef made to order and topped with a toasted, buttered bun, according to Culver’s website.
You can get a ButterBurger different ways, including the Culver’s Deluxe (Wisconsin cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, sweet red onion and mayonnaise), the Mushroom Swiss (sauteed white button mushrooms with salt, pepper, parsley and garlic, topped with swiss cheese), the Bacon Deluxe (bacon, Wisconsin cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, sweet red onion and mayo) and more.
Prices for ButterBurgers vary between around $4 to around $10, depending on how you have it made and how many patties you get.
Another Culver’s signature is its fresh frozen custard, made throughout the day. You can take your pick from multiple sundae and concrete options.
Sundae options include flavors like caramel cashew, turtle and banana split, or you can create your own. Prices for a sundae range from around $5 to around $7.
You can create your own concrete mixer by deciding between vanilla and chocolate and picking two mix-ins. A concrete will run around $5, depending on the size. Prices can be higher based on additional mix-ins.
If you’re not a fan of burgers, Culver’s offers a range of other options. The fast-food chain offers seafood in the form of the North Atlantic cod sandwich, North Atlantic cod dinner, butterfly jumbo shrimp dinner or the butterfly jumbo shrimp.
The chain also has a selection of chicken tender and chicken tender sandwich options, several soup offerings and fresh salads.
