Wine of the week: Sauvion Vouvray Chenin Blanc
Sauvion Vouvray Chenin Blanc 2014
Recommended by: Yannic Dozier, general manager of Oeno Wine Bar, Certified Sommelier of the Court of Master Sommeliers, Certified Specialist of Wine through the Society of Wine Educators
Price: $12-$15
Tastes like: “With the aroma of ripe pears, tart yellow apples, lemon zest and, honeysuckle, this wine starts off with a touch of juicy apple sweetness but immediately dries out with a mouth-watering citrus/white cherry finish. It’s seductive and viscous in its lingering texture.”
Pairs well with: “Classic soft French cheeses that smell a bit earthy but taste sweet (like Brie). Meatier seafood like salmon cooked in olive oil or buttered scallops.”
Comments: “This is a favorite among my staff and my favorite white wine on my by-the-glass list. It’s very versatile and an excellent introduction to the quality and care that goes into classic French white wines.”
