Wine of the week

2012 Nau Freres, Cabernet Franc – Bourgueil, France

Recommended by: Whitney Stratton, Jacob Liquor

Price: $63.49 for a 5-liter box, $19 for a bottle

Tastes like: “A delicious core of crushed plum, cassis, raspberry and blackberry fruit lined with dark tobacco leaf, singed chestnut, violet, olive and rosemary.”

Pairs well with: “Almost everything. It is high in acidity and medium bodied so you can pair it with anything from pizza to pasta to poultry.”

Comments: “Hallelujah! Good wine does come in a box! This 5-liter box is equivalent to just over six regular sized bottles of wine. On the shelf, the regular sized bottles retail for around $19. In the box, you save over $50. I have always been a fan of French Cabernet Franc, but I haven’t been able to consider it an everyday wine until now. Among the many things I love about this wine is that it is imported by Theo Mellion, a fellow Wichitan.”
