Best bets this week

▪  “Don’t Breathe” – This looks (wonderfully) terrifying, following a group of friends who break into the house of a wealthy blind man thinking it will be an easy theft, but discover sinister goings-on instead. This is director Fede Alvarez’s follow-up to the remake of “Evil Dead.”

▪  “Hands of Stone” – This biopic chronicles the relationship between legendary boxer Roberto Duran (Edgar Ramírez) and trainer Ray Arcel (Robert De Niro).

Also opening Friday

▪  “Mechanic: Resurrection” – Jason Statham returns for this action sequel as a former contract killer forced back into service to complete three assassinations and make them look like accidents. Not exactly sure how “Resurrection” applies to any of this, but whatever.

▪  “Southside With You” – This romance imagines the first date of future president Barack Obama and future first lady Michelle Robinson during the summer of 1989 in Chicago’s South Side.
