14th Tallgrass Film Festival to kick off with ‘Folk Hero & Funny Guy’
Special event
▪ Tallgrass Film Festival – Wichita’s 14th annual celebration of independent film kicks off Wednesday with “Folk Hero & Funny Guy,” a comedy about a successful singer-songwriter who hires his comedian best friend to be the opening act on his solo tour. Filmmakers are scheduled to attend and after the screening will talk about the making of the film.
Following that will be the opening night party at the Boathouse, 515 S. Wichita, with food and drink. Ticket packages and passes vary, but single admission to the opening night gala that includes film and party is $25.
The festival continues through Oct. 16 with screenings of more than 190 feature and short films from 33 countries. For a full schedule and to purchase passes and tickets, go to www.tallgrassfilmfest.com.

▪ “The Girl on the Train” – Emily Blunt stars as a divorcee who becomes entangled in a missing persons investigation.
