Screen Scene for week of Sept. 9: ‘Sully’ ushers in the fall season
Best bets opening Friday
▪ “Sully” – Clint Eastwood directs this tale of real-life Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger (Tom Hanks), who became a hero after landing his plane on the Hudson River, saving all 155 people on board in what became known as the “Miracle on the Hudson.”
▪ “Southside With You” – Romance alert! This dramatizes the first date between future President Barack Obama and future first lady Michelle Robinson that happened in the summer of 1989 across Chicago’s South Side. Guys, this screams date movie.
Also opening Friday
▪ “The Disappointments Room” – A family moves from the hectic life of the city to a stately home in the countryside, only to experience supernatural occurrences. That Brooklyn traffic doesn’t seem so bad now, does it?
▪ “When the Bough Breaks” – A surrogate mom for a couple becomes dangerously obsessed with the soon-to-be father (Morris Chestnut).
▪ “The Wild Life” – Animated re-telling of how Robinson Crusoe came to be stranded on a tropical island.
