What you need to know heading into ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’
“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” is not so far, far away anymore. And suddenly everything is at lightspeed.
If you’re one of the thousands who will attend the film Thursday through the weekend, here’s what you need to know before you go:
▪ Tickets available for Thursday shows: As of Wednesday morning, these theaters still had tickets available for sneak preview screenings of “The Force Awakens” on Thursday:
Warren east in 2D: 8:30 p.m.
Warren west in 2D: 11:15 p.m. and midnight.
Warren Old Town in 3D: 10:10 p.m.
All IMAX screenings at Warren west are sold out, as is the “Star Wars” marathon at Warren east.
▪ Warren Theatres protocol: The following information comes from Dan Gray, VP of operations for Warren Theatres, via e-mail:
Are people allowed to wear costumes on Thursday night? Yes, except no full face masks or face paint.
Should people leave prop-like things at home, such as lightsabers, etc? Yes, we will not allow any replica weapons. Please note this has always been our policy.
Do Warren Theaters anticipate people trying to camp out to get the best seats possible? Yes, we do and each theater will handle this accordingly to their location.
How early will people start getting in line for Thursday night showings? There will be people lining up early in the morning.
Will there be security? Theater staff will be helping keep lines organized so that everyone will be directed to see their showing. Security will be on hand just like they have in the past for high-demand showings.
For opening weekend, how early should people arrive for their screenings? Guests should be prepared to show up no earlier than an hour prior to showtime.
Is opening weekend sold out? We have many seats left as we have additional showings that have been added to the ones that we have been pre-selling for.
