A bacon cheeseburger, as we all know, undeniably works.

So why, then, would a bacon cheeseburger with mac ’n’ cheese on top not?

That’s the concept behind Big G’s “monster burger,” which the cashier said is a new creation from the food stand.

For the most part, it works; however, it’s far from remarkable. It’s not the kind of dish that’s going to impress people when you tell them, “I had the monster burger at Riverfest today!”

The burger was decently sized, but the patty was reminiscent of one you’d get from one of those refrigerated workplace vending machines. The meat was not pink; rather, it looked tan to light brown – not the most appetizing of colors.

It was also a little bland, though I should probably blame myself for that, since I neglected to smother it with ketchup or seasoning salt.

The fries came out lukewarm, slightly soggy and without a trace of salt.

For the most part, I pawned off the fries to the friends I was with.

I was going to give it 2.5 stars out of 4, but about 30 minutes after eating it, my stomach felt queasy. I’m hoping that was just a fluke.
