Riverfest schedule for Sunday, June 5
Here’s some of what is happening Sunday at the Riverfest. Admission is a button: $10 for adults and $3 for children, ages 6-12.
RedGuard Stage
Located in the WaterWalk area south of Waterman near Water
Wings of the Wind Kite Festival, 11 a.m.- 3 p.m.
Flag Opening acts begin at 5 p.m. Flag takes the stage at 9:30 p.m.
Hot Air Balloons, 6 p.m. south of stage area. Launch subject to weather conditions.
Cox Kids Corner
Located on the lawn of the Hyatt Regency, near Waterman and the Arkansas River
Toy Trains, 11 a.m.-5 p.m.
Horse Rides by Hope in the Valley Equine Rescue, 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Suggested donation: $5.
Ackerman’s Backyard
Located inside A. Price Woodard Park on the banks of the Arkansas River, 401 W. Douglas
Human Foosball-Open Play, 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Just like foosball game tables, except participants become the life-size players. Fee: $5 per person.
I Bike ICT Tours: Urban Photography, 11 a.m.-noon. Grab your camera and enjoy this leisurely ride through downtown Wichita.
Hoop Art, noon-2 p.m. and 3-5 p.m. Stop by and Hula-Hoop your way to a one-of-a-kind piece of artwork.
DJ Takeover: Dance Party, 5-7:30 p.m. with Country Two-Step. 8-10:30 p.m.: EDM
Kennedy Plaza Stage
Facing Douglas, next to Century II, 225 W. Douglas
Coleman Country Concert 3:45-10:30 p.m. Opening acts begin at 3:45 p.m. Brothers Osborne performs at 7:30 p.m. A Thousand Horses takes the stage at 9:15 p.m.

STEAM City, 11 a.m.-4 p.m., Main and William streets. Play with gadgetry related to Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math.
Butterfly Festival, 1-5 p.m., Botanica, 701 Amidon. Get $3 admission to Botanica with a Riverfest button for the opening day of its butterfly house.
Riverfest Horseshoes, 11 a.m.-8 p.m., Linwood Park, 1901 S. Kansas
Riverfest Sandcastle Competition Registration begins at 11 a.m. Competition from noon-2 p.m., Main and William. Teams have two hours to build a sandcastle that looks like a Wichita icon.
Into the Darkness, 11 a.m.-3 p.m., Behind the the Wichita Public Library. Explore your non-visual senses in a dark environment and experience what it is like to be blind.
Jet Ski Races, IJSBA Mid-America Watercross Championships, 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m., Arkansas River
Riverfest Marketplace, 11 a.m.- 7 p.m., Douglas and Main. This is the place to find Wichita’s local artisans, makers, upcyclers, junkers, upscale crafters and curators of eclectic treasures and antiques.
Fancyfoam Indoor Fly-In, 11 a.m.-10 p.m., Exhibition Hall, Century II. An indoor flying show with aerobatics, lights, combat.
Fly Like an Eagle, 11 a.m.-10:30 p.m., Main and William. Pilot the world’s only public-access B-52 simulator, built from an actual B-52 cockpit made by Boeing Wichita, and fly the iconic F4 fighter.
Riverfest Hackathon, 1 p.m., Exhibition Hall, Century II, 225 W. Douglas. Three winning teams will present their ideas for improving Wichita to a panel of civic leaders and city officials.
Admirals Armada, 1-5 p.m., Wichita-Sedgwick County Historical Museum, 204 S. Main. Free admission to the museum with a Riverfest button.
Kansas Sports Hall of Fame Hole-in-One Shootout, 5-6 p.m., Kansas Sports Hall of Fame at Wichita Boathouse, 515 S. Wichita. Register from 1-5 p.m. for a shot at making a hole in one and winning a $10,000. Fee: $3 per shot or two for $5.
Cardboard Regatta, 1:30-3 p.m., Douglas Avenue Bridge. Watch teams build river-worthy vessels out of cardboard, duct tape and pool noodles. They set sail or sink at 3 p.m.
Paper Airplane Drop, 6-7 p.m., Exhibition Hall, Century II, 225 W. Douglas. Budding engineers ages 5 to 17 build a paper airplane with the assistance of an aerospace engineer and try to win a radio-control plane.
