The threat of rain on Friday has altered plans for a few opening-day Wichita Riverfest events, said president and CEO Mary Beth Jarvis.
Organizers have decided to move the Twilight Pops Concert indoors to the Century II Convention Hall, Jarvis said. Doors will open at 7:30 p.m., and the show will be at 8:30 p.m.
The Sundown Parade is scheduled to happen as planned at 6:30 p.m., and the fireworks will still fly at 10 p.m. as long as there’s no lightning, Jarvis said. The KC-135 flyover, which would have happened during the national anthem of the pops concert was outdoors, will instead happen at 6:30 p.m. at the start of the parade. The plane will fly over Century II’s Kennedy Plaza.
One other change: The paddle boats will remain docked because the current is too strong, Jarvis said.
