DJ Jazzy Jeff, one-half of the duo that launched singer/actor Will Smith’s career, also will perform at the Wichita Riverfest, organizers announced on the festival’s Facebook page today.

Jeffrey Allen Townes, whose stage name is DJ Jazzy Jeff, is a record producer and turntable performer who recorded “Parents Just Don’t Understand” and “Summertime” with Smith as part of the group DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince. He will headline the Rockin’ on the River finale concert on June 6 on the Kennedy Plaza Stage. Another DJ, Michigan-based Mayer Hawthorne, also will perform.

It was also announced that Erica Campbell of the popular Grammy-winning duo Mary Mary will headline the Gospelfest on June 1 on the Kennedy Plaza Stage.

Last week, the festival announced several other musical acts, including the Village People, Irish punk band Flogging Molly, psychedelic soul band the Monophonics, Red Dirt country star Kyle Park and gospel/funk band Robert Randolph and the Family Band.

The full list can be seen at the Wichita Riverfest Facebook page.

The Wichita Riverfest will run May 29 through June 6.

Last month, the festival announced it was doubling the price of an adult button from $5 to $10 this year. But a couple of presale opportunities before the buttons officially go on sale May 8 will offer people a chance to still buy buttons for $5. The lower-priced buttons will be on sale online or over the phone through Select-A-Seat through April 16. A $1 service fee will be added for each button.

The $5 buttons also can be purchased in person at the Intrust Bank Arena box office or at the Wichita Festivals Inc. office at 444 E. William from April 17 until May 7. Any button purchased after that will be $10. The festival will continue to offer its child button, which was introduced last year, for $3, no matter when it’s purchased. Companies that buy buttons in bulk for their employees also will get the $5 price.
