The food truck scene just keeps getting bigger in Wichita, thanks to dozens of talented barbecue cooks, taco artists, hamburger slingers, espresso brewers and crepe makers with a box truck and a dream.
It can be hard to keep track of them all, and I frequently get calls from hungry people and event organizers asking me for a list of local truckers.
My colleague, designer Lynette Abitz, recently created an phone-friendly program that will allow us all to keep track of the trucks. It lists most of the Wichita fleet, and if you click on a truck name, it’ll take you to a page that has pictures, a description of the food truck’s fare and links to all its pertinent social media pages, which is where most food trucks update their locations.
To find the new program, just follow my link to the Wichita Eagle’s Food Truck Tracker. Once there, either bookmark it on your phone it or save it to your home screen. The program also works on tablets and desktops, though it looks best on a smart phone.
The current list is nearly complete but is missing a few of the newer trucks. Lynette and I will update it periodically to keep it current. Let me know if we’ve missed anyone by e-mailing me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
