Still waiting for your invitation to a Super Bowl party? If it doesn’t materialize, you have options. The big game, which will pit the Seattle Seahawks against the New England Patriots, starts at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, and several local sports bars will be welcoming crowds with special events and discounts. Among them:
Heroes, 117 N. Mosley: The Old Town sports bar has lots of seats, lots of televisions and an appetizer special designed to serve six. It’s called the Superplatter, and it includes chips and queso, six bone-in wings, six boneless wings, miniature chicken tacos, mac and cheese bites, broccoli cheese bites, cordon bleu bites, and spicy corn fritters plus large sides of ranch dressing and salsa for $29.99.
Larry Bud’s, 2120 N. Woodlawn: The east-side location of this sports bar has been drawing crowds during football season with its football Bingo, where participants mark their cards when specific plays are made. The bar will offer Bingo again during Sunday’s game. Cards are $1 apiece, and winners get prizes donated by local liquor reps. Larry Bud’s also will be offering $9 pitchers among other drink specials.
Deano’s, 747 East 21st St. N.: This sports bar has a full menu, $2 Bud Light pints and 23 television screens ready for Super Bowl crowds.
Twin Peaks, 8310 E. 21st St. N. (316-440-5533) and 7325 W. Taft (316-440-4940): The two locations of the Wichita chain are taking reservations for their Super Bowl parties, which cost $10 a seat. Those who make reservations will qualify for other giveaways and prizes, including a chance to win two tickets to Draft Day in Chicago. Call or visit the restaurants to make reservations.
